Environment

Print, and the production of print, is often seen as especially wasteful use of valuable resources - and in many circumstances, that can be an accurate statement. However, there is much that printers and end-users can do to reduce the impact that we have on the environment.

Paper

Firstly, there's the paper that we print on to. Emtone will, wherever possible, recommend that its clients designate environmentally acceptable materials for their print needs. In no way however, does this need to affect the quality of the finished product. There are recognised environmentally materials available in all categories of the paper spectrum. It's actually very easy to check whether a particular paper is made from pulp from sustainable forests, or whether its recycled or part recycled, and Emtone will be happy to advise accordingly.

Print

FSC

Of course, there's no point in printing on environmentally sensitive materials if the print processes are inherently wasteful or in other ways likely to be harmful to environment. To this end, Emtone are now FSC certified. Being FSC certified shows that we comply with the highest social and environmental standards on the market. Increasingly, governments and other organizations specify FSC certified products in their purchasing programs.

Environmental Update

Emtone is proud to have been able to contribute towards the Soil Association's '2008 Case For Support' brochure to underpin fund-raising for the organisation's proposed new headquarters building on the harbourside in Bristol. This contribution has enabled the Soil Association to take ownership of an enhanced publication that is far more substantial and arresting than available budgets would have otherwise allowed.
