National Portrait Gallery: The Portrait Gala

On March 3rd 2009, the UK's National Portrait Gallery hosted an auction and dinner to raise funds for the Gallery's educational programme.

The 400 guests, who were seated in some splendour across one whole floor of the gallery, raised in excess of £200,000 for the project via an auction which included donations from the photographer David Bailey, and the artists Julian Opie and Jonathan Yeo. Further funds were raised via a silent auction of 150 postcards of original art and artists here included Tracey Emin.

Emtone was pleased indeed to have been asked to facilitate all of the print for this event and is particularly proud of the 96pp event programme that was the centrepiece of the work. The artwork for this publication was only ready at a very late stage ahead of the date of the event - as a necessary consequence of needing to wait for the auction donations to be completed - and Emtone are very keen to thank both Howard Smith Paper and project designers The English Group, for their creative guidance of the project.
